When do we use numbers?

We use numbers to count pets.

Example: My name is Emma. I love animals! I have six pets. I have one hamster, one parrot, one cat, one iguana, and two dogs.
 

 

We use numbers to talk about your age, when we answer the question: How old are you?                                                                                                                                                                            

Question How old are you?

Answer: I + am / ‘m + number (six, seven, etc.) + years old.

2.2- Animal Names: Pets

Pets are animals that live in a house. Pets can be dogs, cats, parrots, etc. Look at the examples below :

My name is Emma. I love animals! I have six pets. I have one hamster, one parrot, one cat, one iguana, and two dogs.

3- Language Point

In this section, you will learn how to communicate in English.

3.1- Asking for Quantity: How many…?

We use the question (?) “how many + animals or pets (cats, dogs, etc.) + do you have?”  to ask for the number of animals a person has. Look at the examples:

Question 1 (?) How many pets do you have?

 

3.2- Expressing Possession: I have…

We use the positive sentence () “I have + number (one, two, three, etc.) + animals or pets (cats, dogs, etc.) when somebody asks you the question: “How many ____ do you have?”. Look at the examples:

Answer 1 () I have seven pets.
